Has this ever happened to you?
Your sat on the floor and your young child is looking up at you smiling and babbling and communicating with you.
But your mind is racing around a 100mph with so many doubts, fears, questions and pondering.
That you completely miss the moment.
A moment like that is lost forever and you don't get many more opportunities for them.
It can happen so often as well regardless of age.
You can miss your kids first goal, first gymnastics roundoff, first basket, first tackle.
All things they are super proud of and cannot wait to share with you.
But you can't be fully in the moment celebrating with them because you were distracted when it happened.
That used to be me most of the time.
This picture was taken on a vacation to Tennessee in 2020.

What do you see in the picture?
Seeing as you can't directly tell me right now I am going to assume you are saying
Great family photo
Happy dad with his kids
Beautiful scenery
When I see this photo my instant memory is of how I felt at the time.
What should be a beautiful photo is actually a reminder for me of the pain I was in and a reminder that I felt at what I thought was my lowest.
I had no idea at the time just how much harder the following 6 months would be.
This picture reminds me of how I felt
- Lost
- Complete lack of confidence
- No conviction
- Going through the motions
- Weight heavier than it had ever been
- Failure
Whilst I will never claim to have perfected all of that and that I never lose myself in moments that distract me from what's happening in life.
I can 100% say that I am in a much better place.
Your Action
Ask yourself if you find yourself often drifting into self doubt, negative thought, or even pondering too often.
Is it distracting you from moments with your kids that you want to enjoy?
If so, then explore those feelings to try and understand why.
What are you often thinking?
When does it happen?
What would you rather be doing?
What step can you take to move to that future state?
Curiosity may have killed the cat.
But it's your super power to improve your life.

Cheering you on,

HEY, I’M DAN…
I know how exhausting and overwhelming it can be to work full time in a job that doesn't fulfill you. Then to arrive home sad and mentally exhausted.
Your kids really excited because daddy is home! and they want to tell you all about their day and play with you.
But you are so beaten down that you just can't give them the same excitement, or your full attention. Your mind is full of doubts and fears.
As hard as it may feel right now, there is a path from where you are today to becoming the dad who arrives home feeling fulfilled instead of frustrated.
I know because I have been where you are, and I can show you the way.
As a dad, husband, full time employee and a certified coach, I have helped dads just like you to identify careers that allow them to wake up excited to make a difference, to arrive home ready for toys and tantrums, and to go to your kids sports games fully present and enjoying it.
