Whenever I get numerous messages, or see plenty of advice that I should be doing something, I then love to really question it.
Curiousity may have killed the cat, but it can lead to you learning so much more about yourself.
Sometimes it leads to major breakthroughs.
Sometimes it can lead me to delaying and procrastinating when it was just easier to damn well just follow the advice!
So, let me get to the point on what it is that I keep seeing...
There are only X numbers of days left of the year. Make sure you use them to hit everything you needed to do
On the face of it that's not necessarily bad advice.
A goal with a timeframe is important as it creates urgency and makes it more real.
If this type of message motivates you then absolutely you should go for it. I will not be telling you otherwise.
But there is also a flip side to this.
Christmas is my favorite time of the year.
All the fun activities, the smiles on my kids faces when they visit Santa, the games, books, music and wondering if our home alarm will go off when Santa breaks and enters into our house.
You may feel the same way.
Or you may find this time of year incredibly stressful.
Ensuring the kids have fun, the dinner is cooked, time with family you may not want to spend that time with, wrapping presents, the commercialism etc etc.
Or you may not celebrate it at all.
However you feel about it, my advice to you is...
Do what works for you and your family
That may comes as a surprise from someone who encourages you to set goals and helps you achieve them.
But, ultimately, my aim is to help you feel more present, confident and empowered so that you can be the parent you want to be for your family.
So,
If you are tired out and work is crazy because of all the deadlines and you feel too tired and just want to get through the next few weeks then allow yourself that grace.
If you just want to enjoy the month and time with your family and focus on that, and get back to your goals in January then allow yourself the freedom to do it.
If you want to continue on your path and do that final push to achieve your goals, then by all means carry on and go for it!
Whatever you decide.
Do it guilt free and don't let anybody make you feel bad about it!
This is your time and your life.
Cheering you on,
Dan

HEY, I’M DAN…
I know how exhausting and overwhelming it can be to work full time in a job that doesn't fulfill you. Then to arrive home sad and mentally exhausted.
Your kids really excited because daddy is home! and they want to tell you all about their day and play with you.

I know because I have been where you are, and I can show you the way.
As a dad, husband, full time employee and a certified coach, I have helped dads just like you to identify careers that allow them to wake up excited to make a difference, to arrive home ready for toys and tantrums, and to go to your kids sports games fully present and enjoying it.
