10 Must Know Tips From 6 Months Of Writing

I am back after a fun filled weekend in South Carolina!

Moving to the US 7 years ago I thought getting to watch my football team live was going to be impossible.

So when they announced they were touring the US I knew I had to get there!

15 hours from leaving my house to getting to the hotel on Friday and then 13 hours to get back Sunday was pretty tiring. But well worth it!

Yesterday was the 6 month anniversary of my first weekly e-mail

This is the 66th e-mail I have sent in that time period as well.

Whilst the content and style have evolved in that time my consistency has remained the same. I haven't missed a single week in that time period.

Here are 10 things I have learnt from starting to now.

The sole purpose of me sharing this is to help you with some goals or thoughts you are working on or have put off working towards.

I hope this helps!

1. Consistency creates habits

Knowing I want to get this into your inbox on a Thursday at 6:30am gives me a definitive timeline to work towards.

2. It sucks at first but you get better through trial and repetition

My first e-mails suck in comparison to now. Most likely my now will suck when I review again in 6 months. It's all part of growing. Having fun with that and being excited about it is the key. Don't take yourself too seriously.

3. Your confidence grows through trying

The more you try things the more you learn about what does and doesn't work. There's gold in both of those.

4. When you have a passion for something you find the time for it

I love writing and the work that I do, always trying to grow, learn and help people. For me I get excited about doing this and it doesn't feel like work. When you have that passion then you make time for it.

5. Optimize time when you know you will be really busy soon

Some times are busier than others. If you know that and don't want to lose consistency then plan ahead of time. Sometimes I plan my posting content 2-4 weeks in advance so that I know I won't miss one.

6. The journey is fun if you approach it that way

Pushing myself into doing things I am uncomfortable doing is hard.

Parenting is hard.

Life is hard.

But if you approach it in a fun way it becomes hard but fun.

7. You get nowhere without starting

66 doesn't happen without number 1

6 months of consistency doesn't start without day 1

Nothing you want in life happens without you starting somewhere.

8. The fact people read and respond to what you are doing is an incredible feeling

Time is the most valuable currency in the world. The fact you spend some of that on me is the most incredible feeling.

9. Making notes of ideas as they happen makes the writing process 10x easier

My big fear when starting was what if I run out of things to say. Making notes of ideas throughout the week has made the challenge now be which one to talk about this week

10. The fire is still raging

I am even more passionate now than I was when I started. The more you work at something the more clarity and confidence you get. Making that fire burn even stronger.

I hope you found these helpful.

Let me know which one resonates with you the most.

Hot Wheels Adventures

Just before I left for my trip Jonah came running towards me and asked me to take a hot wheels car with me :)

He loved seeing the adventures we got up to!
